Sæplast brine grid plates (often referred to as salt grids) are durable plastic inserts used in water softening systems and industrial food processing to elevate salt above the bottom of a brine tank. While Sæplast is primarily known for its high-performance insulated polyethylene containers used in seafood and meat processing, brine grids are essential accessories for maintaining efficient brine solutions within these and other industrial tanks.
Key Functions of Brine Grid Plates
Prevents Salt Mushing and Bridging: By keeping the salt elevated, the grid prevents it from forming a solid, compacted block at the bottom of the tank, which can restrict water flow.
Uniform Brining: They ensure a consistent layer of water remains below the salt, allowing for more uniform dissolution and a stronger brine solution.
Debris Separation: Dirt and impurities from the salt settle at the very bottom of the tank, below the grid, preventing them from being drawn into the water softener’s resin bed.
Increased Water Capacity: Grids displace salt to allow the tank to hold more water, which can sometimes allow for the use of a smaller tank.
Product Specifications & Variants
Brine grids are typically made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or PVC to resist the corrosive nature of salt and brine.
These grids are universal fit into insulated tubs 460 660 and 700 liter. They fit into 600 liter single walled tubs/bins aswell
Seafood and Food Processing: Used in large Sæplast bins during the salting process to extend the shelf life of fish or meat by ensuring deep salt penetration.
